Why was I charged an administration fee?

You are being charged an administrative fee in accordance with the terms of your rental agreement.

Why was my credit card billed?
Answer:
Your rental car agreement authorizes the direct billing of your credit card for toll charges and related administrative fees, and for traffic and parking violations, fines, and/or penalties incurred during the rental period, and related administrative fees.

What is a Transfer of Liability?
Answer:
A Transfer of Liability transfers liability for a toll or violation from the owner of the car, the Rental Car Company, to the person responsible for the vehicle at the time of the toll or violation, the renter.

I already paid the amount due for the parking violation directly to the Issuing Authority or the Rental Car Company.
Answer:
If you received a Notice of Charge or an invoice from ATS Processing Services for your parking violation, and you paid the amount due for the parking violation prior to the due date stated on the violation citation or ticket that was left on the rental vehicle, you may qualify for a waiver of the parking violation amount and the administrative fee, or a refund if we already charged your credit card. In order to initiate the process, please visit the dispute page on www.rentalcarticket.com and follow the instructions. You will be required to provide/upload proof-of-payment made to the Issuing Authority or to the rental car company. Valid proof includes a receipt, a bank statement, or the front and back of your canceled check. Upon receipt and verification of adequate proof, we will be able to credit your outstanding balance. In the event that you paid the Issuing Authority directly, but not prior to the due date stated on the parking violation citation or ticket, you will be entitled to a refund of the amount paid to the Issuing Authority, but not of the administrative fee.

How can I make payment?
Answer:
Payment to ATS Processing Services can be made in one of three ways: - If you have received a Notice of Charge, the credit card used for the vehicle rental will be automatically charged on the date specified on your notice. No further action is required.
- Online: Log into www.rentalcarticket.com to make payment if you prefer not to use the credit card on file.
- By Check: Detach the coupon at the bottom of your Notice of Charge or Invoice and mail it along with a check or money order for the amount due. Please be sure to allow enough time for post office mailing and bank processing such that payment is processed prior to the due date listed on your Notice of Charge or Invoice. If your check or money order is received after the due date, the credit card on file may have already been charged. In this case, ATS Processing Services will process a refund back to the credit card.
How can I obtain a copy of the violation citation or ticket?
Answer:
You may log into www.rentalcarticket.com and print a copy of your violation citation or ticket. If the copy is not available, please request it via the Contact Us page.

What happens if I fail to pay?
Answer:
Failure to pay your account in full may cause the following to occur: - Your account may be sent to a collection agency.
- Your ability to rent a vehicle in the future may be affected.
- Penalties may be assessed.
I was not renting a vehicle at the time of the toll or citation.

Why was the credit card charge from ATS Processing Services instead of the rental car company?
Answer:
The company you rented the vehicle from has signed a contract with ATS Processing Services to manage and process all tolls and traffic and parking violations issued to their vehicles, including billing renters in accordance with their rental agreement.

I don’t remember getting a ticket while renting the vehicle.
Answer:
Not all Issuing Authorities place a paper ticket on the rental vehicle, including, for example, where a photo-enforcement traffic violation ticket was issued against the rented vehicle.

I didn’t know I was on a toll road.
Answer:
Many of the toll roads in the United States and Canada are all-electronic, barrier-free over-the-road toll highways, which do not have toll booths or barriers where tolls can be paid in cash. Since there are no toll booths, you may not have been aware that you were entering a toll highway but you are still responsible for the tolls and administrative fees in accordance with your Rental Agreement.
